What the Cell! draws inspiration from the smallest unit of life to shape the mediation programme for Barcelona Producció 2021–2022. Through an interplay between micro and macro scales, the cell, its functions and its chemical activity become metaphors for the behaviour and interactions between individuals (cells), communities (tissues) and the city (ecosystems).

What keeps us alive? How is life sustained? Can art improve the health of a place? Today we know that cooperation has made evolution possible. The selected projects constitute the genetic material (DNA) that enables us to imagine proposals fostering symbiosis and coexistence among living beings.
