Aparece, aparecer by Valentina Alvarado Matos and Carlos Vásquez Méndez is the second publication issued in the expanded essays series initiated by Ressò with the book Interrogar el acompañar by Carolina Campos. Aparece, aparecer offers a visual and textual approach to the working methodology that is shared by the two artists, centred on ‘exercises’ of translating words into images and vice versa. At the same time, it raises questions that lie at the heart of their joint artistic projects: the relationship between image and word, the performative and haptic nature of filmmaking, and working with the materiality of analogue cinema, to name but a few. 

Aparece, aparecer engages in dialogue with the exhibitions el otro aquí (the other here) and totalmente rostro, produced by the Centre d’Art La Capella and La Virreina Centre de la Imatge in 2024.
