This project is based on theoretical and practical research into the material, procedural and formal relationships between paper and cement. Through visits and fieldwork at paper and cement factories across Catalonia, both operational and abandoned, the research explores production processes, industrial architecture and the sculptural possibilities that emerge from the intersection of the two materials.
This research takes the form of a series of works created through the observation, reinterpretation and transformation of architectural and construction elements, installed at the Museu del Ciment in Castellar de n’Hug, where the research is exhibited and has returned to one of its main starting points.
Helena Ripoll, born in La Pobla de Lillet in 2001, earned a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona.
Her work has been recognised with the Miquel Casablancas Visual Arts Award (2026), the Pols grant from Sala d’Art Jove and the Museu Tàpies (2026), Contemporanis (2025), Art Jove Creació (2025) and the PATRIM Award (2024), and her work is included in its collection.
She has participated in group exhibitions at Fundació Vila Casas, Fundació Felícia Fuster, Halfhouse, Estrany de la Mota gallery and Espacio Provisional. More recently, she has presented solo exhibitions at Taca Studio, EtHall (duo exhibition) and Espai Plana de l’Om.
