The Vibria is part of Barcelona’s festive processions. Its meaning has evolved from its medieval origins to its current form, which dates back to the 1990s. How can we reinterpret it thirty years after it was created?
The exhibition is based on an experimental use of materials, engaging in dialogue with those that were traditionally used to make these figures—papier-mâché, clay, plaster and wood—from the perspective of the city’s new residual materialisms. The ultimate goal is to break them down, alter their expected form and relocate them around the gallery to enrich their narrative connotations. This dance of materials will be joined by the sounds of Jonas de Murias and the words of Orne Cabrita.
Born in Oviedo in 1989, she is a visual artist and cultural worker interested in the relationships between bodies and communities. Her practice examines the relationships between materials, at the crossroads of drawing and sculpture, through gestures, the body and symbols from folk culture.
She studied Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona. Her works have been featured in several group and solo exhibitions, including ‘La nit del cos’ (Bombon Project, Barcelona, 2019), ‘Páginas amigas’ (Las Naves, Valencia, 2020), ‘El desig és una línia que no acaba’ (Lleida, La Panera, 2024) and ‘Vapores: entre agua y tierra’ (Alicante, Las Cigarreras, 2025). They can also be seen in other artistic disciplines, including the comic Padrines (2024), the animated short film Oro Rojo (2022) and many collective authored fanzines.
