‘if i become pavement flesh remains untouched’ proposes other forms of material translation of the performance-based gestures, the possibilities of self-preservation by seeing the body as matter.

I wonder what happens when a surface absorbs gestures, folding and modulating itself like a voice or body does, seeking possible escapes and paths when faced with the demand for visibility and legibility of the presences that structure public spaces.

This set of structures activates a methodology of overflow, an excess of something. Through this, I imagine a plastic transformation. Becoming surface, becoming pavement. A survival act in which the flesh remains intact by merging with matter, because it is matter

Viva, born in Mexico City in 2000, is a transdisciplinary artist based in Barcelona. Through sculpture, poetry and performance art, her artistic practice seeks a meeting point where body and matter can express themselves simultaneously. Since 2022, she has been part of c h o r o, an educational experimentation project based at Foc, a multidisciplinary arts space in Barcelona’s La Marina neighbourhood.
