The idea for the project stems from research into ways of calculating the temperature of a room through vehicles such as smoke or sound. Over time, the research evolves towards questions of farce and the prop.
Echo is a way of thinking about architecture from the perspective of sound and its reverberation. But it is also a way of thinking about the other pieces and voices that have passed through a space, observing the trace and mobility of discourses. The question is also about communicating from a distance.
A desire emerges to introduce comedy into the space; it is about the experience of the object/sound as a joke, not as a transformative experience. The area of the monumental ensemble has this quality; could La Rampa also have this sacredness?
Gemma Prunés Montsant's work arises from ways of occupying a space, and her main interests are installation and performance. With a background in film and fine arts, she intervenes through images as objects/language and in the direction of space through the presence of a viewer.
