An exhibition of works produced as part of the Master in Production and Artistic Research, Art and Intermedia Contexts (ACI) specialisation, at the Universitat de Barcelona, offered in collaboration with La Capella and Fabra i Coats: Fàbrica de Creació.
The title is actually a statement of intent. On the one hand, Consensual_Title.zip alludes to the difficulty of coming up with a shared name for a group exhibition. Here, consensus is not a definitive endpoint, but rather a process of negotiation among sensibilities, interests and diverse ways of understanding artistic practice. On the other hand, the .zip extension evokes a compressed folder: a container that concentrates a variety of files into a single package, thereby reducing its size without losing its complexity.
The exhibition functions in a similar manner. The works presented do not aim to provide a synthesis or exhaustive representation of each research, but rather fragments of broader research, ongoing processes and open questions. The exhibition therefore becomes a constellation of practices in which each work retains its autonomy while participating in a collective experience.
Consensual_Title.zip ultimately assumes that every exhibition is also an exercise in selection, reduction and assembly. Like any compressed file, it contains much more than is immediately apparent. Only by unfolding its contents can the full scope of the researches that converge here be grasped.
