Screens continuously bombard us with images, videos and visual content that circulates at a frenetic speed. Children and young people, immersed in this constant flow of information, are exposed to an increasingly accelerated visual culture, in which everything seems ephemeral and superficial. But in the midst of this chaos of images, there is a way to communicate, to play with visual language and to create their own meanings.
This exhibition includes the creations of 5th grade primary school students from Sant Francesc d'Assís School, 1st grade secondary school students from Pia Sant Antoni School and the artistic high school students from Massana School , who have given life to a collection of analog memes.
The exhibition is part of the Apadrina el teu equipament project, promoted by the Foundation Tot Raval, which connects educational centers with cultural facilities and of which La Capella has been a part since 2019, accompanying students in a process of discovery and reflection on current visual culture. On this occasion, the students visited La Capella and discovered the exhibition Caca banal. Inspired by the work of the artist Daniel Moreno Roldán, they explored how memes can be a tool to reflect on the world, using the visual language of social networks to express themselves with humor, creativity and criticism.
The result? A collection of memes that invites us to rethink how new generations use visual language to question, play and share their vision of the world.
