Rotating AiRs is a project of international residencies and exhibitions that brings together three art centres and three cultural contexts: Hotel Maria Kapel in Hoorn (Holland), Morpho in Antwerp (Belgium) and La Capella in Barcelona (Spain).
The joint proposal is born from decolonial thinking and an analysis of the ecological and environmental crises of today, putting in dialogue three countries with a strong colonial past and with an artistic context capable of rethinking these legacies.
Rotating Airs begins with a public call for artists from Europe that will result in a selection of people who will participate in four residencies between 2027 and 2028. The call is open until May 1, 2026.

Each artist will participate in a global itinerant residency that will begin with a month-long stay in Lubumbashi (Democratic Republic of Congo), Yogyakarta (Indonesia) or Mexico City, followed by other phases of their creative process in the European port cities of Hoorn, Antwerp and Barcelona. This transnational approach ensures that the environmental effects of colonialism are seen both from within Europe and from an external perspective, where deep-rooted inequalities remain palpable on a day-to-day basis. The tour consists of a first month in one of the non-European cities and then two months in each of the European cities, culminating in an exhibition in the last city of the Rotating AiR programme.
