Art Nou 2026 Closing Ceremony

On Thursday, September 3, at 7 pm La Capella will host the closing ceremony of the 14th edition of Art Nou, the festival of emerging art in Barcelona and L'Hospitalet, organized by the Art Barcelona gallery association.

The event will take place at La Capella from 7 p.m., where we will have the action Foreing Boy by Alicia Val. It is a performance piece that proposes a cosmological fiction where the human and the spherical dissolve within moviment.

Afterwards, the Art Nou 2026 Award will be presented with Quico Peinado (president of Art Barcelona), David Armengol (artistic director of La Capella) and Pilar Cruz (director of the Art Nou festival).

For this edition, the jury is made up of: Carlos Muñoz (collector), Marita Sesñe (member of the curatorial team of La Capella) and Lorena Pizarro (Seltz by Ritter Ferrer gallery).

Foreing Body
When a foreign element enters a dimension that does not fully recognize it, the notion of the internal is altered and the boundaries between both parts begin to dissolve. The presence neither fully integrates nor is completely expelled, remaining suspended in an intermediate state.

Following the arrival of a perfect sphere on Earth, it assumes a hypnotic presence, capable of affecting and generating ways of witnessing the world from interiority, tenderness, desire, and even conspiracy. Everything rotates on its axis to become a reflection; the resonance extends in all directions.

Alicia Val (Barcelona, 2003) is an artist working between sculpture, performance, and the image. Her pieces seek to propose scenarios for experimenting with materiality, movement, and sensitivity from a poetic dimension. On stage, her intuitive approach to space allows the body to oscillate, experiment, and fail, always revealing itself in its rawness.

She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona, where she is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Artistic Production and Research. She has completed residencies at L’Estruch Fàbrica de Creació, Espai Bocanord, and the AcciónMad! platform. During the last year, she has presented her work at venues such as the independent gallery Casa Espacio, the Artefacte festival, Palau Alós, Gracia Territori Sonor, and CC Sant Martí.
