Art Nou 2025 Closing Ceremony

Art Nou

On Thursday, September 4, La Capella will host the closing ceremony of the 14th edition of Art Nou, the festival of emerging art in Barcelona and L'Hospitalet, organized by the Art Barcelona gallery association.

The event will take place at La Capella from 7 p.m., where we will have the action Parafonías by Blanca Tolsá Rovira, with Pepe Lolo, Berta Pascu and Rodrigo Rammey. It is a proposal that involves a sensitive experience in which the intuitive relationships between movement and sound are distorted.

Afterwards, the Art Nou 2025 Award will be presented with Quico Peinado (president of Art Barcelona), David Armengol (artistic director of La Capella) and Pilar Cruz (director of the Art Nou festival).

For this edition, the jury is made up of: Berta Caldentey (collector), Marta Sesé (member of the curatorial team of La Capella) and Joana Roda (from Bombon projects).

Parafonías
When two sound waves with the same frequency enter a slight gap between them, the human ear perceives the friction as a third note. Parafonías proposes a sensitive experience in which the intuitive relationships between movement and sound are distorted and open up a place that is both alien and familiar that moves our curiosity and empathy. What would happen if, in a communicative act, voice and gesture did not exactly go hand in hand? The intentions of the body or voice deviate, creating a territory where meaning is questioned and the imaginary is transformed.

Blanca Tolsá, a graduate of the Professional Conservatory of Dance of the Institut del Teatre, began her career as a dancer with IT Dansa. In 2021, she created her first piece, Echoica, presented at the Dansa València and Dansa Metropolitana festivals. In 2024, she is an emerging artist at El Graner, where she develops this second piece of her own, Parafonías. Since 2016, he has worked as a performer with Lipi Hernández, Ariadna Montfort, Raquel Klein, Robert Zappalà, Albert Quesada, Magdalena Garzón, Jacob Gómez, Anna Macau, Constança Brcnic, Núria Guiu, Paloma Muñoz Sibèria and Geòrgia Vardarou.
