Maquinal

Like an instinctive movement, Maquinal is an exhibition that produces itself in real time; an invitation to look in another way, to speculate on the presences of this place. Transformation occurs continually around and through the space; people who come and go; lights whose brightness varies; sounds that catch our attention. Multiple layers of reality are organised through the scenes, affecting the physical and emotional distances between what we see and what we imagine in La Capella.

Sofía Montenegro (1988) conducts her artistic practice by combining sound, image, text and performance. She studied Fine Arts and Cultural Studies in both Utrecht and Madrid and completed an MA at the Dutch Art Institute. She is currently a member of Hangar. She has shared her work at MNCARS, Can Felipa, Bulegoa, Kunstraum Kreuzberg/Bethanien, El Chico, LCE, CA2M and Bosque Real, among others. She was recently a resident at BilbaoArte and CRA Matadero Madrid, as well as a prizewinner at Generación 2022.
