HOW ABOUT A LITTLE KISS, DON’T BE UNKIND

The project HOW ABOUT A LITTLE KISS, DON’T BE UNKIND explores how images become words and how words become images, questioning the idea of information transfer, in which language becomes a way of reliving events. To construct a text that acts as a memorial to language and to create imaginary spaces or experiences in the audience. The narrative, in the form of a curatorial action, aims to rehearse the exhibition: to performativise it. To make it exist through ‘word’ and ‘voice’. To opt for the performativity of speech and fragmenting the author by means of quotation is another way of reflecting on the very fact of the exhibition and its limits, ways of narrating through ‘ekphrasis’, developing the fictitious, the rumour or the lie, and, in short, exercising memory and imagination.

ferranElOtro is a heteronym referring to a sought-after strategy of concealment that helps to show oneself through many other voices. A branch of subjectivity that, as a ventriloquist does, allows one to be more oneself, when one is other people. He has a background in Fine Arts and Art History. His career constantly fluctuates between a variety of skills, a voiceover characterised by articulating discourse based on selecting and editing content. He set up the graphic design office ferranElOtro Studio in early 2007. He was co-director, together with Irene Minovas, of the publishing company Save As... Publications between 2007 and 2013. He took over the artistic direction of Galeria Estrany-de la Mota between 2016 and 2018. Additionally, he has also developed his editorial activity by parasitizing the curatorial field with collective and individual exhibition projects. He moved to Medellín in 2014 and there combines this work with university teaching in the field of visual arts.
